We produce lithium-ion cells for customers from our factory in Thurso, Scotland. We also manufacture cells at the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC). We have the flexibility to make cells in a pouch or cylindrical formats.
Drawing on our experience at Thurso and through our work with the UKBIC, we are accelerating our ambitious plans to expand our operations to mass volume manufacturing levels. We are executing our plan for our first GigaFactory at our preferred location of Dundee. The GigaFactory is planned to be in production in 2026 and will have a 1GWh manufacturing capacity.
With our differentiated cell products, we are ideally placed to meet rapidly increasing market demand from electric vehicles and energy storage customers. Prototypes of our lithium-ion Ultra High-Power cell are available for customers now. We can also offer prototypes of our sodium-ion Ultra Safe product.
Demand for battery cells is increasing as the net-zero transition accelerates and more sectors turn to electrification. We’re ready to meet this with a strong and secure supply chain. We’re manufacturing here in the UK – scaling up production at our factory in Thurso and through our collaboration with the UKBIC.
